It Might be Time for my MacBook Pro
One of the major reasons I was holding off buying the new Intel-based MacBook Pro was because some major apps that I use have not been recompiled to run natively on the Intel chips. Some of these apps are; Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. I use these a lot and if they're going to have to run on an emulation layer then they'll be dead slow, right? Well, maybe not.
Berefeats Rosetta vs Native Powerbook Tests
From the results, it looks like Photoshop runs fairly well on the Intel MacBook when you compare it to the old PowerBooks (which is what I will be replacing). And since my PowerBook only runs at 1.5Ghz instead of the one that's tested (1.67) I think the speed differences will be even less drastic.
Maybe this means that buying a MacBook won't be so bad. I can still run Photoshop and probably won't notice much of a difference. I'm curious how other apps respond (Flash for one) but if it's similar to what I'm seeing here then I need to make the move now.
