MacBook Pro 17 Inch Cheaper Than the 15 Inch

Apple announced the new MacBook Pro 17" laptops today as expected. What no one expected was that they'd price them to be cheaper than the 15" MacBook Pro.

Sure, if you go to their site the 17" is listed as costing $300 more, but that's because it has a faster chip and better hard drive configured by default. If you configure the 15" to match feature for feature, you actually pay $100 less for the bigger laptop. On top of that the 17" comes with a Firewire 800 port (lacking from the 15") and a faster, Dual-Layer, DVD burner. What gives?

Maybe Apple intends to drop the price of the 15" model in the next couple of days, but until then, do yourself a favor and buy the 17" model.
