Updates and Stuff

These posts are never particularly fun or exciting, but we have so many listeners now that we feel we're responsible for getting this information out before things start to change rather than after. Although, a friend of mine once said, "It's easier to do something and ask for forgiveness later than to ask permission first." That friend is in jail now, but perhaps it's good advice.

Regardless, here's what's going on...

  1. We're moving to a new hosting provider. Why? Cause the company we're with now (QualityHostOnline.com) guarantee 99% uptime and they take it to the limit every month. 99% of a month means they can be down for 8 hours a month and still fulfill their promise. So they do and it sucks. We're moving to MochaHost.com - so far they're fantastic. We'll see how it pans out. Either way it's more bandwidth (which we need) and more storage.
  2. Scott is working hard on the new site design and it's really nice. We may put up some competing designs and let you guys vote on them unless something just really strikes us. Don't expect the site to get the full overhaul for a while though. It's an ambitious change and will take time.
  3. Because of our hosting move, you'll probably experience problems with the site and feed for a couple days. We're trying to reduce the number of problems all we can, so bear with us.
  4. We're upgrading to MovableType 3.3 which let's us add some new features to the site. Want details? Nah, that's really boring shit.

So that's all for now. See, I told you it was boring. We just wanted you to know about possible issues before they start happening and you just think we don't know how to maintain our servers.
